I should have been a realtor. The first day we had our sign up in our yard we had an offer on our house. Then after some negotiating we had a contract. Now we just have to wait for the inspections and closing stuff to go through and I will no longer own the house. We ended up getting pretty much what we asked for it which is a lot more than I paid for it two years ago. So I guess we can say that was a pretty good investment on my part.

Well not much else has been going on. We've got all our stuff moved into our other house. We still have some painting to do over there. And we still have a ton of stuff to sell in the garage sale.

Oh, one other thing. What is the deal with baby showers and wedding showers. It seems like every weekend we are having to buy gifts for someone else. We've had to buy gifts for 6 baby showers and we still have 5 more comming up. Then on top of that we have 4 or 5 wedding showers comming up. This is out of control. Everybody should just buy their own things. Maybe if we didn't have to buy gifts for everyone else then we would have enough money when these things come along to buy our own stuff. It's Crazy. Oh well.

Amazing Mets?

Last week was opening day for baseball. I love opening day for many reasons. First it's a sign of spring/summer. And secondly it means it's time once again to watch the Mets. What I don't understand though is why no one cares about baseball anymore. I keep asking everyone I know about baseball and no one seems to watch or care about it. Was I the only one excited about opening day? Does anyone reading this care about baseball? The Mets are off to a good start. Which they spent enough money this year getting Wagner, Delgado, Lo Duca so we better make the playoffs. Plus I'm here to state David Wright is the best third baseman in the league. Listen for his name, you'll be hearing a lot of him. Oh and we still have allstars from last year in Beltran and Pedro so that doesn't hurt either. So you've heard it here first, the Mets are for real this year. I know I say that every year but this year it's not just wishfull thinking.

Finally Back Home!

Well it's been a busy past couple of weeks. To catch you up here is a very brief summary. Vanessa's grandma had to go to the hospital and apparently had congestive heart failure and so the doctors determined that she has to live in an assisted living facility instead of her house. So we had to get her into a facility, get all her stuff that would fit into that tiny room from her house and move her in. Then we had to figure out what we were going to do with the rest of her stuff at her house (which we are still in the process of doing). Now we have to re-carpet and get her house ready for us to move into. We've been also cleaning up our house, painting the outside of our house and getting it ready to sell. We then will be moving to her house (our new house). While this was all going on my Brother and his wife had their first child Abigail Winnie Morgan (not sure on the spelling) on March 13th. She weighed 9lbs 7ounces. So we spent Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in Tusla seeing our new niece. We spent Wednesday and Thursday painting our house. (actually my mom did most the painting) Then we drove down to Dallas Friday night, went to the Northpark Plaza in Dallas so Vanessa could shop at Anthropologie and then ate at Campizzi's which has the best pizza in Dallas. Then we went to my old roommate's wedding, Scott Treske, and then made the drive back home. Ok, so that wasn't exactly brief and probably made no sense. But this all has been happening in the past week. So anyway, anyone wanting to buy a house I will have mine on the market by April hopefully. I'll post pictures and prices later.

P.S. anyone driving to Dallas in the near future. DON'T. We got 12 miles from the Texas/Oklahoma Border going southbound on I35 and we hit construction. The first 6 miles took us exactly 1 hour. That's right we averaged a speed of 6 mph. Then the next 6 miles took us 30 minutes. So we went a total of 12 miles in and hour and a half. And of course this all happened right at dinner time so we were starving.

Who is Coldplay?

I've read numerous blogs about a Coldplay concert. Who is Coldplay? Are they a new band? What style of music do they play? Why haven't I heard of any of this? I guess I'm just out of it.

People need to get Creative

After reading someone's post about trying to help someone homeless only to find out they were up to no good I started thinking about all the times I've given money to people who asked for it. I am aware that most of the time it's going to waste, but I still think in the back of my mind at least once it had to of done some good and that's all that I need to make me continue lending out a helping hand. But, one event sticks out that bothers me to this day.

A couple of years ago I was living in the Links apartments on 122nd and Kelley. One night after dark I was driving to the store and I noticed a car on the side of the road stranded. So I decide to stop to check on the situation and come to find out an older man in his 50's or 60's had run out of gas and was trying to get back home to Guthrie but he was out of money. Ironically I had a gas can in my car so I went to the nearest gas station and filled up the gas can. I went back to where I had left the man and I put the gas in his car and then I gave him $10 to go fill up his car with enough gas to get to Guthrie. He then told me that he worked for a car detailer in Guthrie and if I wanted to take my car in he would detail it for free. I told him that's ok and dropped a few lines in there about God and then went on my way feeling good about helping someone out of the goodness of my heart.

Almost a year to the date after this event took place a friend of mine came to bible study one night and was talking about a guy he had helped out that was stranded on the side of the road near the Links apartments. He said he was out of gas and needed to get to Guthrie. So my friend gave him money to fill up his car. Before he could say another word I had to ask if he offered to detail his car for free. And sure enough he did. We then started comparing notes and it turns out the car and guy matched descriptions.

So, yes I've been a victim of a scam. But what bothers me the most is that he wasn't creative enough to come up with a new story. I want my money back based on lack of creativity.
